Cody Cutter: Former SHS Football Manager
(among other things)
The person who is commonly known as #35
on the message boards is a person named
the Sterling-Rock Falls area, Cody's love for
high school sports did not start at an early
age, but in fact, started during his freshman
year in high school.

After being the athletic manager for the
Sterling Football, Volleyball, Girls Basketball
and Boys Basketball teams his freshman
year, he decided it was best for him to
actually try out for a sport, Baseball.

He tried, but got cut from the team admist
controversy because the coaches did not
form a freshman team, although the
numbers were large enough to fit in
everyone into three teams. That's another
story. During the tryout process, Cody
learned of a site called NCIpreps.com . "If
anyone posts on the site, I swear to god ... "
was the sentence from a coach to everyone
at a meeting. Cody was tempted, therefore,
he became a member of the site, of course
under his secret motives.
2001
Cody was born in Sterling and moved back and forth between his birthplace and Rock
Falls. He attended Wallace, Jefferson, Merrill and Lincoln elementary schools in both
towns. In 1997, he moved back to Sterling, where he went to junior high and high
school.

He first started his managing days in 2000, for the Challand Middle School 8th grade
boys basketball team under none other than the webmaster for NCIpreps.com, Matt
Gingrich. He then expanded his managerial efforts through high school and then was
approached by a new website, sterlinggoldenwarriors.com, which would be the
predecessor for Prep Sports Online.

Joining in June of 2002, he worked as a content editor, website manager and reporter
for PSO for about two years. His website work for the Sterling, Rock Falls, Newman and
Dixon athletic websites gained him exposure in the writing world.

Cody left PSO in 2004. His expertise led him to Sauk Valley Newspapers, where he
spent four months as a sports reporter. His beat was Sterling, Newman and Rock Falls
and the western corridor of Erie and Prophetstown.

Before the start of his senior year at Sterling High School, he came to conclusions that
the schoolwork would surmount his daily duties with SVN and his newly created website,
Northern Illinois Sports Beat, was slowly getting more popular, Cody left in August of
2004 to pursue academics and construct what is now Northern Illinois Sports Beat, a
more of a relaxation to him because the work tasks were under his control rather than a
sports editor, meaning in the long term, he could take days off if he wanted to.

At Sterling High School, Cody was involved in the Sterling Yearbook and Sterling Script
newspaper. After his graduation from high school in 2005,  he attended Sauk Valley
Community College in Dixon, where he graduated with a Mass Communication degree
in 2010.

His NCIpreps posting days are still fresh in some minds. #35 became his moniker in July
of 2002 and survived until PSO shut down NCIpreps in 2004. The love of high school
sports and fan communication and player interaction led to the creation of what some
consider the spin off of NCIpreps, Northern Illinois Sports Beat. He also contributes to
the Illinois High School Glory Days website for deactivated high schools.

Cody works at the East End Shell station in Sterling, and has been doing so since June
2008. It's a Johnson Oil station, and that's where he gets his fuel during trips
throughout Northern Illinois.

He is also a two-time Illinois Community College Journalism Association award winner,
for his college newspaper sports writing.

Cody, 24, is the oldest son of Jeff and Lisa Cutter. He has one sister (Diana) and three
brothers (Michael, Christopher and Daniel).
