Northern Illinois Sports Beat Publisher
The popularity of Northern Illinois Sports Beat is growing at a rapid rate. I knew it would
take time, but didn't really know how to take all of this increase of popularity.
It's all good, yes. But there are some negatives that come with the explosion of traffic.
Chief among them is dealing with demand.
We have people who visit the website from all over the coverage area. People
sometimes complain that we don't get out to a particular portion of the area more than
others. It's hard for a staff of ONE and it's THREE contributors to cover all of this at the
rate of demand.
Rather than chop the area and leave pockets of places all alone, we would still like to
reach out to these places.
Add to that, the fact that this website is just a side project for us. I work at a full-time job,
and so do our contributors. Writing is part-time for us. Even with our jobs, we still end
up short on investing in the website.
Because the website is becoming popular, and we don't have much money put in, I
would like to ask for your help in donating to Northern Illinois Sports Beat.
Donated money allows us to save a bit of out personal money. Currently, I pay for the
website straight out of my job's paycheck. There is no "company budget." We don't
make money off the website other than these donations. Donated money will help us be
able to do more with the website. The website has potential to do certain things, if we
had the money.
Whenever we use the donated money for something, you will be credited for helping us
out, and we will let you know (through the website) how your money is used.
Asking for donations is a friendlier way than, say, charging for content and infesting the
website with advertisements that could harm your computer.
We currently use our personal money to provide for the following:
-The production of business cards
-The hosting of the website portion of NISB (not the boards)
-Reporting accessories: utensils, paper, batteries
-Fuel to get to games
-Stamps and postage for school mailings
-NISB Pick'em Prizes
-Lodging for distant events
Your donation will not only help provide for the following, but may help pay for a "Wish
List" of things that can help the website somewhat (in order):
-A year's worth of an advertisement-free message board
-A digital camera for taking sports action photos
-Video editing software (highlight films, whole events, etc.)
-Video camera
-Cell phone line
-Fax Machine
-Being able to pay writers, photographers, other staff, etc. with cash money
-Organizing as a Inc.
We're not looking at all of this right away. That will take quite some time. Slowly does it.

at the top of the page.
There are also other ways to help, such as distributing flyers and business cards, as
well as Submitting your own Game Story.
