The 2009 Northern Illinois Sports Beat Final Football Pick'em is the sixth edition, making
it one of NISB's longest running features. These contests are always FUN and EVEN
MORE challenging than the weekly pick'ems. This year's contest will begin on Sunday,
October 25, and end on State Championship Weekend.
How it Works: It is a simple pick'em contest with as many as 30 games in the first
week, and as many as three-or-four games in the semifianls. There will be five rounds -
first round, second round, quarterfinals, semifinals and the State Championship. First
round games are worth one point, second round games are worth two points,
quarterfinal games are worth three points, semifinal games are worth four points, and
the State Championship games (those that our area teams are in) and worth five points.
New this year: The non-area Championship games will be worth one point, with the
Class 8A game being the final tiebreaker.
There are no weekly winners, just a leaderboard.
You must participate in each week in order to be crowned champion.
All games that are to be picked will pit teams from the NISB Coverage area only. There
will be no game in the first four rounds that will be non-area vs. non-area.
Anyone who is a registered member of the NISB Message Board is eligible to participate.
#35 cannot win the tournament since he runs it. If #35 wins the tournament, second
place is crowned champion. (Rule only enacted in 2005 so far).
Games are posted each Monday.
Deadline for picks is 7:00 PM area time on Friday night. No exceptions!
